Intro
"The tablecloths for the back tables should be shiny black and the chairs must be one feet apart", Catina said while she and her E-Board were preparing for the biggest event of the school year. "Ok, Catina, we get it", said the E-Board.Always being in charge and head of projects made Catina smile everyday and on top of that, she is a Finance major in her Jr year, leading a major project in class. Project planning is her favorite thing to however her recent activities and comments made by her friends has her thinking. Is her bossy attitude and pickyness interfering with the completion of projects and hurting her personal life?
"AHA"
Being the oldest of her siblings and always being picked to do house chores or look after her siblings. Naturally she was leader, but she never realized until the summer of her 8th grade year. Up until then, Catina had not had the best of luck succeeding at anything. While all of the girls were learning how to double dutch, Catina was still a single rope jumper. All of her school projects, especially science projects were a disaster. After each failed attempt, she would go back through her brain and flip the pages until she found a flaw. Being only human, she would find no flaw, chalking it up to "Human's are entitled to mistakes." It wasn't until the summer before her 8th grade year, that she realized the answer to all of her questions. After all of these years and many projects handled, she was never organized and almost all of the time, she would overlook major details that are crucial to the successfully completing the project. This revelation set the ground for her new student org, Phenomenal Women of GW.
Professional Challenge
Starting Phenomenal Women of GW was huge challenge for Catina. She was use to starting projects that has a template or had been similar to other projects done. PWGW was a different story. Catina had to lay the ground work, pick an executive board, and form relations with administration. Also, as added pressure, she had to come up with events that were diffrent than the other womens group on campus. This allwed her to excercise her organizational skills that she has learned through the years.
"Catina, why are you making this group, there are enough sororities and women groups on campus, we do not need another one" was the statement of many of her peers. However Catina's drive and ambition did not allow them to hold her back. So she used her brain and personal beliefs to make something diffrent and unique.
"PWGW will represent the ideals of all women, no matter the background, creed, or race. It will allow for a comfortable and creative enviorment to stimulate the minds of women through community service and special events."
When people found out about PWGW and its unique core, everyone praised Catina for her abilities to connect with all women. However that soon died down. "So whats next?"
Comming up with the first event was a major task for Catina. Not only will it had be good but it had to be able to prove to everyone PWGW was different.
Planning an awards ceremony was the event she chose. Yes, this event was of huge caliber for a new org, but Catina was determined to make it the best event. She invested most of her time into planning and was very organized but her past failed projects, she became very picky about each detail, which ultimatley hindered its success.Could she ever start a business if she waste too much time on little details?
Personal Challenge
Being a student at GW and not having too many personal responsibility, Catina throws herself into anything she does, never really taking time for herself or her personal life, such as having a boyfriend or lots of friends. She usually keeps the company of those she knows well. Keeping those around that give her strength and encouragement, has helped her succeed. However, lately those same people have been saying the same thing. Catina wants expand her circle but her picky nature wouldn't allow for unique and different individuals to enter.
