Larysa
Run, run, run and catch your dream

Personal Challenge:

New York City, the most populous city in the United States. And there she was, sitting on a bus, on the way to her hotel and passing all the skyscrapers of New York City. Larysa couldn’t believe her eyes because her biggest dream started to get real.

After a four day orientation, she walked into the train, which brought her to the next city, to the capital of the United States; Washington DC. She knew there were just 20 minutes left until she would meet her host parents for the first time. She was at the same time very nervous as well as very excited. She got welcomed with a big welcome sign and balloons like she always imagined it. Did it mean everything else will continue like she always imagined it?

The first days she got instructions by the previous AuPair and there it was; her first doubt! Was she doing the right thing, was her mom maybe right, would she manage that all, would the children accept her? Larysa made it. After the first month, she found her own routine; but for the first time in her life she got aware of one thing: Appreciation towards her mother and her grandmother. It was her mother and grandmother who did the laundry, cleaned the house, who cooked lunch and dinner and who raised her. Now it was kind of Larysa’s job. She got used to it, but she understood that it’s more work than she thought.

Larysa understood that if your dream comes true, it doesn’t mean it will come true how you imagine it. After 10 month in the USA Larysa was still convinced about her decision she made. She enjoyed the time she spend in the USA very much, although she went trough up and downs, but that made it maybe more interesting. 10 months left and she had to struggle with the next challenge in her life: She had to face her professional challenge.

Professional challenge:

What will she do in her life? What measure should she study? What university should she go to? Where are her talents? What are her strengths and weaknesses? Should she extend for one more year in the USA? All these questions went through her mind! She didn’t know what to do. So she started to search for all universities in Berlin and around Berlin with a two till three hours distance. After writing them all down, she went through each webpage and wrote down what universities offer measures she might be interested in. Finally she applied for 22 universities. Now she is waiting for the answers. But she is afraid to fail, to quit university by choosing the wrong measure. After her sister quitted university, her mom pined her hopes on Larysa. But she doesn’t need to do that anymore, because Larysa’s sister decided to study again in a different measure. Larysa would love to study with her sister in the same university. Maybe it was destiny that she and her sister applied for universities in the same year. Now Larysa needs to find a new dream, to follow her feelings and to try to make her dream comes true. And everything starts from the beginning:

Run, run, run and catch your dream
